Topic: Munabbihat – The Counsels of 5 (Part 20) & The Counsels of 6 (Part 1)

In this lecture, Ustadh Mahmud goes through these sayings from Munabbihat, the counsels of five.

Counsel 1:

There will come a time upon my ummah (community) when they will love five things while forgetting about five other things:

(1) they will love this dunya but completely forget about the akhira

(2) they will love this life but completely forget death

(3) they will love their (temporal)homes but forget about their own grave

(4) they will love wealth but forget about the accounting on the Day of Judgment

(5) they will love creatures but forget the creator

– Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)

Counsel 2:

O my God! My nights are only pleasant to me when I do my munajah (supplication) to You.

My days are only pleasant to me when I am in obedience to You.

This world is only pleasant to me, when my heart make dhikr (remembrance) to You.

Akhirah will only be pleasant to me if I receive your good pleasure and pardon.

Jannah will only be pleasant to me if I see You.

– Yahya bin Mu’adh al Razi

Counsel 3:

Ustadh Mahmud goes through this saying from Munabbihat, the counsels of six.

There are six things that are strangers in six situations:

(1) the mosque is a stranger amongst people who do not pray in it.

(2) the Quran is a stranger in a household where it is not read

(3) the memorized Quran is a stranger in the heart of fasiq (transgressor)

(4) a righteous Muslim women is a stranger in the hands of an oppressive husband of a bad character

(5) a pious Muslim man is a stranger in the hands of an evil wife of bad character

(6) an Islamic scholar is a stranger amongst the group of people who do not listen to him

Verily Allah the exalted will not look at them on the Day of Judgment in a merciful manner.

– Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)
