Topic: Calamities that can come onto a person through the tongue (part 2)
In this video, Ustadh Mahmud explains the following hadith:
Rasulullah (s.a.w) said: May Allah have mercy on the following people
1) the person who is able to protect his tongue from the harms of the tongue
2) he who knows the value of his time
3) he who is straight on his path
What are the harms of the tongue? How do we protect ourselves from committing sins with our tongue? What are the afflictions a person receives through his tongue?
One of the most important duties of a Muslim is to protect the tongue from speaking about those matters which are harmful. The series of lectures entitled Calamities of the Tongue, delivered by Ustadh Mahmud A. Kürkçü, covers numerous hadiths on the importance of protecting the tongue from its evils, which do not encompass only lying and backbiting. It is imperative that a Muslim dedicates effort to learning and understanding the limits of what is prohibited to say.
